Got a cell phone? Get a horoscope
Written by Michael Vass
Horoscopes have been with Man since we first looked at the stars. Before there was paper the stars were used to guide and divine the lives of men and women. And that connection to the stars and fate has never waned.
With paper’s advent it wasn’t long before horoscopes were being provided to the masses, newspapers being one of the first to realize the importanxce of connecting with the public on this daily requirement. But technology has continued to advance, and newspapers have fallen by the wayside. Fewer and fewer are reading the publication yet demand remains strong, if not stronger in this ever more complicated world.
The internet is of course one tool that many use to chart and keep in contact with what their horoscopes can enlighten them about in their daily lives. Still as portable as laptops are, and plentiful, there are times where it’s just too bulky and inadvisable to have a computer. So many have been denied this societal pleasure.
That is right up till King Features Syndicate and Skycore LLC announced that astrologer Jacqueline Bigar’s daily horoscopes will be made available for cellphones. Thus no matter how mobile you might be, you can still find out your birthday fortunes or those on any other day.
The technology is so advanced that 4000 characters and/or images can be sent out to subscribers on the Cellyspace.com Multimedia Messaging Service. The cost of the service reflects the growth of cell phone add-on services, and costs a mere $2.99
The really important thing to me though is the fact that Mankind has always had an eye towards the universe, asking the questions the consume our days, and we have seen over and again that the universe seems to have an eye on us as well. With so many things being lost or obscured by the technology we continuously create, its somehow comforting to know that one of the most fundamental connections – a connection that goes back as far as we have the ability to learn of – remains as vital and accessible as ever before. Actually maybe even moreso now.
