Reflecting on the horoscope of the financial markets
Written by Michael Vass
Just for a bit of humor I decided to take a look at the horoscopes of the 24th. We had a lot of sudden news and more than a few surprises throughout the day and I wondered if you had read the stars in the morning you might have gotten any clues.
[The horoscopes I am basing this on come from Georgia Nicols and the Chicago Sun-Times]
We start this off with Aries (my favorite sign since I am one). Aries are told
“If you haven’t heard from ex-partners and old friends already, you will very soon. Sometimes it’s great to hear from old friends. Sometimes it’s not so great to hear from ex-partners. However, this is an opportunity for closure and wrapping up old business.”
“
Well an ex-partner could be Fannie Mae or Freddy Mac. Both those institutions were involved with the financial markets and they are gone now. And it’s not too great hearing about the crisis they left behind. And we are looking to wrap up this old business, with $700 billion dollars.
So far so good.
With Taurus we get
““Silly errors, goof-ups, delays, misplaced items, lost papers and staff shortages dog your footsteps even more. Just be patient. Don’t take it out on yourself and others, it’s just Murphy’s Law in action. (Experience teaches you to recognize a mistake when you’ve made it again.)”
“
Well I wouldn’t call the mortgage crisis silly, but Congress seems to be delayed in responding and in getting the bailout done. The rush to get the bailout done could be taking it out on the public. And if this is Murphy’s Law in action, he really had a hardon for the nation.
Gemini is another interesting one
““Because Mercury is your ruler and today it officially goes retrograde, prepare for the worst. However, it will bring old flames back into your world. Sometimes embers can be ignited. But remember, they still have the power to scorch. (And you’ve got the calluses to prove it.)”
“
I think anyone who understand the severity of the absence of liquidity on this scale is preparing for the worst. If the old flame is Senator McCain going back to Congress to get something done that is pretty good. And Congress does seem to need a fire lit under them.
Cancer says
““Family members you haven’t heard from for ages might be camped on your doorstep. This is the classic time for a family reunion (anytime in the next month). However, it’s an excellent time to finish renovations, repairs and domestic projects”
“
Yep they will be camped at your door next month, since they might have lost their house. If you haven’t fixed the house by now, you won’t get a loan to do it any time soon, that’s for sure.
Leo
““This Mercury retrograde triggers silly errors that plague your daily existence: lost keys, misplaced papers, canceled appointments, confused communications, minor breakages, and checks late in the mail. Fortunately, these are minor, hangnail annoyances.”
“
Confused communication? You mean like sending someone an email and getting a televised response?
Sagittarius seems apt for Congress
““Old friends are back in your life again, along with previous opportunities to join clubs and organizations. This month, you will definitely be sitting around trading lies with old cronies about the bad old days. You might be rethinking some long-term goals, as well.”
“
Senators Biden and McCain are old. And they are going back to Congress this week. Trading lies, cronies, and bad old days? Oh yeah, that is definitely Congress.
And if it’s your birthday
““IF SEPT. 24 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: You have a marvelous imagination. You use your imagination not only in your work but also in the way you live your life. You seek out adventure, especially through interesting people. You’re generous and sometimes easily bored. You truly want to enjoy life. This year is a time of learning something important because next year could be one of the most powerful years of your life!”
“
Yes you would need an active imagination to comprehend $1 trillion. And few things are as adventureous as trying to work and not knowing if the financial markets will be around to make transactions you need. Of if your home will still be yours in a month. Generous is one thing, but hundreds of billions in just the last week is too much. And if Congress and the financial markets don’t learn from this, the rage of the public will be powerful indeed.
Well that’s enough with the horoscopes. Far too many applied to the events of the day. Who knew they could be so accurate. I hope tomorrow they mention that I will get a bonus, or win the lottery.
